Five years after kicking off the world’s largest project on real-world digital mobility outcomes, the Mobilise-D consortium is proud to present the Mobilise-D Conference, scheduled for March 20, 2024. Hosted at the prestigious Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh during the day and transitioning to the National Gallery of Scotland for the networking evening, we will celebrate our groundbreaking results and achievements, share valuable lessons learned, and collectively help shape the future direction of digital mobility assessment.
Keynote Speakers Setting the Stage
The Mobilise-D Conference will kick off with opening statements from Lynn Rochester, Professor of Human Movement Science Institute of Neuroscience, Newcastle University, and Daniel Rooks, Executive Director, Clinical Excellence Head, Endpoint Management Program DISCOVERY & PROFILING / Translational Medicine, Novartis, the Co-Leads of Mobilise-D. The first keynote will be delivered by Ronenn Roubenoff, former Mobilise-D Industry Co-Lead, and address the needs and gaps in the field of digital mobility assessment, thereby setting the tone for an engaging and informative day.
Theme 1: Real-world Digital Mobility Assessment
The first theme focuses on the assessment of real-world digital mobility. Ieuan Clay, Director of Science at VivoSense, takes the stage with a keynote where he will bring his expertise and knowledge as Digital Health Expert.
The first Knowledge Gap session dives into the challenges and solutions for accurately measuring real-world digital mobility outcomes. The presentations will be led by Andrea Cereatti, Professor in Bioengineering at Politecnico di Torino, the Academic Lead for the Technical Validation Study, and Arne Muller, Associate Director & Senior Principal Data Scientist in Clinical Digital Endpoints, the Industry Co-Lead for the same study.
The second Knowledge Gap session explores the clinical insights from the Clinical Validation Study, led by Mobilise-D experts such as Clemens Becker, Professor Dr. at Robert Bosch Gesellschaft für Medizinische Forschung, Brian Caulfield, Professor of Physiotherapy, University College Dublin, and Judith Garcia, Research Professor, Head of the Non-Communicable Diseases and Environment Research Programme, ISGLOBAL.
The session concludes with a panel discussion featuring professionals such as Jessilyn Dunn, Duke University, Sallie Lamb, University of Exeter, Alda Marques, University of Aveiro, and Paolo Bonato, Harvard Medical School, guided by Claudia Mazzà, Biogen, the former Mobilise-D Technical Validation Study Academic Lead.
Various breaks and lunch in an interactive space are providing attendees with ample opportunity to network and engage with experts.
Theme 2: Translating Digital Mobility Assessment into Wider Use
The second theme explores the translation of digital mobility assessment into wider use. Laurent Servais from the University of Oxford delivers a keynote that will set the stage for the subsequent discussions on public and patient involvement, regulatory pathways, and clinical implementation.
Alison Keogh, Assistant Professor of Healthcare Innovation, Trinity College Dublin and Mobilise-D PPIE Lead, sheds light on how patient input has informed the project, while Tova Gur Arieh, one of our patient advisors, will provide a crucial patient’s perspective. The regulatory journey and clinical implementation are further explored by Wim Dartee, Global Lead Combination Products and Medical Devices, Regulatory Affairs at Novartis, Giorgio Davico, Assistant Professor at Alma Mater Studiorum – Università di Bologna, and Anja Hoffman, Bayer AG Research & Development.
The day program wraps up with an expert panel discussion led by Camille Carroll, Plymouth University, featuring insights from Diane Stephenson, Critical Path Institute, Dalia Dawoud, National Institute for Health and Care Excellence, Ger Quinn, ICON and Mobilise-D Data Management Industry Co-Lead, Lis Boulton, Age UK and Pippa Powell, European Lung Foundation.
The conference concludes with a brief summary and legacy session by Lynn Rochester and Daniel Rooks, outlining the key takeaways and the future direction of Mobilise-D.
