We are very proud to announce that the Pulmonary Research Institute (PRI) in Grosshandorf, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany, is the first clinical site in our ongoing Clinical Validation Study that has reached their target number of included participants. They just reported that participant #140 has entered the Mobilise-D study, thereby completing their target for the COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease) cohort.
Despite living more than 100 km from the testing site, participant #140 was willing to take the long drive to the Mobilise-D site in Grosshansdorf to be able to join the study and perform the baseline assessments. “I am happy to be part of this interesting project”, the participant said after the first conversation with PD Dr. Anne-Marie Kirsten. As all other participants in the study, she will be invited to follow-up assessments every half year for two years.
Study nurse Martina explained all the necessary steps for the upcoming visit very easily – as she has been doing for nearly all 140 baseline visits. Not surprising for those who know her, as she is a very experienced study nurse who has been working for more than 15 years on-site.
The Head of the project in Grosshansdorf – PD Dr. Henrik Watz – is rightfully very proud of his team and thankful to all the patients who have participated so far, especially in these challenging COVID-19 times.
Behind the scenes, there is a really big network of 17 participating enthusiastic sites in this project, spread all over Europe. “We are grateful to be part of this network“, Dr. Watz points out and continues “We really look forward to the data Mobilise-D will be providing us with.“ Dr. Watz explains further: “With these data we hope to get a deeper understanding of our COPD-patients and find ways to improve symptoms and quality of life of those patients.“
The Pulmonary Research Institute (PRI) at the Lung Clinic in Grosshansdorf is dedicated to the diagnosis and therapy of lung diseases. PRI was founded by Prof. Dr. Helgo Magnussen in 1998. Currently, PD Dr. Henrik Watz and PD Dr. Anne-Marie Kirsten are the managing directors of the institute. PRI is a member of the Airway Research Center North (ARCN; Director: Prof. Dr. Klaus F. Rabe www.arcn.de) and a partner of the Deutsche Zentrum für Lungenforschung DZL (German Center for Lung Research www.dzl.de), a research network of leading pulmonary research institutions in Germany. For more than 25 years, PRI has focused on maintaining a high standard of pulmonary research. Not only patients but also their partners benefit from their long-standing clinical and scientific competence, which is attested to by PRI being the first site in the Clinical Validation Study that managed to reach their target number of recruited participants. Congratulations to all involved, and a big thank you to all patients that participate in our Clinical Validation Study!
