The work on algorithm development and technical validation has come to an end. We cannot believe it’s been three years already!
The Mobilise-D webinar series on the Technical Validation Study (TVS) had its fifth and last session on April 9, 2022. In this session, we showed how the sum of every single contribution in WP2 has led to achieving all we had to achieve – despite massive challenges along the way. We demonstrated the data visualisation tool and the great performances of the INDIP system on our patient cohorts and healthy controls. The team also revealed which are the winning algorithms for the individual analysis blocks and how we combined all blocks into two pipelines, both of which are device agnostic and provide the same results when running on body-attached sensor devices. When these pipelines are used properly (for example, only on walking bouts longer than 10s) our algorithms are valid not only in healthy adults but also in the most challenging patient cohort, that is hip fracture. These are amazing results in times of a pandemic and world-wide lockdown and restrictions. After the last TVS webinar, our WP2 academic lead, Professor Claudia Mazzà, had this message to the entire team:
“Congratulations and thank you to everyone for the always smart, challenging and interesting conversations we had during the past three years! It might have been the most challenging project I have been involved in, but it certainly has been the most interesting one!”
Claudia Mazzà
Despite that algorithm development and technical validation formally has come to an end, the team will continue to meet to share and discuss updates on the results, the writing of publications, additional analyses, and supporting activities still ongoing in the other work packages. The success story of Mobilise-D continues 🙂
